Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, The Continuing Education Unit in cooperation with Ibn Sina Unit for Electronic Education at the University of Baghdad\/ College of Pharmacy, held a workshop between Associate Professor Dr. Ali Azeez\u00a0Ali, a faculty member in the Clinical Pharmacy Department, and Dr. Carlos Bezos, Director of an institution concerned with patient perspectives in Spain. Dr. Carlos presented his lecture on the Spanish healthcare system, which is a free and comprehensive government-run system. However, there is a high number of patients which puts pressure on the system, and since 2015, not all graduates from medical schools have been employed, forcing many to seek job opportunities outside of Spain. It is worth noting that emergency treatments are free, and the Spanish healthcare system covers all citizens and residents across all regions of Spain. However, there is a variation in the quality of services provided from one region to another. Private health insurance is also available for purchase in Spain for use in urgent cases. As for the lecture by Associate Professor Dr. Ali Azeez\u00a0Ali, it summarized the four global healthcare systems, including the Iraqi healthcare system, which comprises the public sector, private sector, and the new health insurance system, along with the characteristics of each.Such workshops with international researchers contribute to strengthening cooperation between the University of Baghdad and global healthcare institutions, facilitating the exchange of expertise, broadening perspectives, and enhancing the curriculum for postgraduate students at the college.<\/span><\/p>\n
