Kathem Alkhateeb, the Scientific Affairs Unit at the University of Baghdad\/College of Pharmacy conducted an in-person seminar entitled \u201cFrom Antibiotic Resistance to Microbial Resilience: The Promising Efficacy of Zosurabalpin Against Multidrug Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii\u201d The seminar was delivered by pharmacist Abbas Ahmed Kadhim, the MSc student at the Clinical Pharmacy Department. The seminar aimed to shed light on antibiotic resistance, a pressing global health concern, with a particular emphasis on multidrug-resistant (MDR) Acinetobacter baumannii. It also introduced Zosurabalpin, a novel and promising antibiotic candidate developed to combat these highly resistant pathogens. The seminar included several topics, including it addressed the global crisis of antimicrobial resistance, emphasizing the severity of infections caused by Acinetobacter baumannii. This pathogen is listed as a critical-priority organism by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) due to its persistence and resistance to existing treatments. The seminar concluded that Zosurabalpin presents a novel, highly targeted therapeutic approach to fighting (MDR) Acinetobacter baumannii. With its unique mechanism of action and encouraging results from both preclinical and early clinical profiles. It represents a promising therapeutic candidate for addressing one of the most urgent and high-priority public health threats identified by the (WHO) and the (CDC).
