Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad\/ College of Pharmacy, held an in-person workshop titled:<\/span>
\n“Financial Corruption in Government Institutions: Causes and Solutions”,<\/span>
\npresented by Mr. Murtadha Abdul-Hussein Hassan, Director of the Legal Affairs Division at our college.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to shed light on the phenomenon of financial and administrative corruption, which is considered one of the most serious challenges facing institutions and societies. It has a direct impact on development and stability, in addition to its role in squandering public funds and undermining citizens’ trust in government institutions.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop included many topics like: defining financial and administrative corruption and distinguishing it from legitimate practices, presenting various types of corruption, such as bribery, favoritism, forgery, and embezzlement, discussing the causes behind the spread of corruption whether individual, institutional, or societal, exploring the negative effects of corruption on individuals, society, and the state and outlining solutions, like activating oversight roles and promoting ethical values.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop concluded by emphasizing the importance of adopting a culture of integrity and transparency within educational and administrative institutions, strengthening the spirit of citizenship and responsibility and involving all segments of society in combating corruption through awareness programs and institutional reform.<\/span><\/p>\n
