Razzak Mahmood in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. The dissertation aimed to design and synthesize a new series of the parent, tolfenamic acid, derivatives and evaluate them <em>in vitro<\/em> for cytotoxic effects against cancer cell lines. The dissertation included the method of synthesis and characterization of final compounds using spectroscopic techniques used to validate the target molecules, including FT-IR, 1HNMR, 13CNMR, and MS (ESI). Docking studies were performed to determine the binding patterns to the potential molecular target VEGFR-2, and compared to an in vitro VEGFR-2 tyrosine kinase (TK) inhibition assay.\u00a0\u00a0 The results proved that all of the newly synthesized compounds were cytotoxic against the three different cancer cell lines.
