Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Baghdad, chaired the Ph.D. dissertation defense committee for the thesis entitled \u201cEvaluation of the Nephroprotective Effect of Dibenzazepine, Tangeretin, and Quercetin on Renal Ischemia Reperfusion Injury in Male Rats,\u201d delivered by the student Zahraa Ibraheim Jawad Shubber on July 10, 2025, at the Postgraduate Studies Hall \/ College of Pharmacy \/ University of Kufa.<\/span><\/p>\n

The study aimed to evaluate the protective effects of dibenzazepine, tangeretin, and quercetin in reducing acute kidney injury induced by ischemia\/reperfusion in male rats.<\/span><\/p>\n

The study involved the evaluation of molecular, histological, and genetic changes, along with monitoring the role of NOTCH1 and Jagged1 in the injury.<\/span><\/p>\n

The results showed that pretreatment with dibenzazepine, tangeretin, and quercetin led to a significant improvement in renal function, decreased levels of inflammatory markers and oxidative stress, and reduced apoptosis. The results also demonstrated an important role for NOTCH 1\/Jagged1 inhibition in the renal protection mechanism.<\/span><\/p>\n

The study recommended conducting further laboratory and histological studies to investigate these mechanisms as kidney-protective agents and to conduct further studies on their potential to prevent or mitigate acute kidney injury in humans, especially in surgical and critical care settings.<\/span><\/p>\n
