The College of Pharmacy discussed the MSc thesis entitled \u201cPreparation and In-Vitro Evaluation of Spironolactone Nanomicelle as Pediatric Oral Film\u201d by the student Karima Ali and her supervisor, Assistant Professor Dr. Hanan Jalal, at the pharmaceutics Department.<\/span><\/p>\n

The study aimed to enhance spironolactone’s solubility and dissolution by preparing it as a nanomicelle system. The optimized formula was incorporated into an oral film for pediatric use.<\/span><\/p>\n

The study included Micellar formulations were developed using Soluplus either alone or in mixed micelle with either Tween 20 or TPGS at various concentrations. These formulations were prepared using the solvent evaporation\/dropwise addition method to promote micelle formation<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0The results showed that Formula F6 (100mg Soluplus) was identified as the optimal formulation, characterized by particle size of 75.9 nm, a polydispersity index of 0.239, an entrapment efficiency of 94.67%, a drug release of 96%\u00b1 2.08 at 90 min, and a zeta potential of\u00a0\u00a0 -21.27 mV.<\/span><\/p>\n

The study recommended conducting stability studies to determine the shelf life and expiration date of the spironolactone-loaded nanomicellar oral film, along with clinical pharmacokinetic evaluations to confirm its therapeutic efficacy.<\/span><\/p>\n
