Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad\/College of Pharmacy held an in-person workshop entitled \u201cApplication of Nanoparticles Albumin-Bound (Nab) Technology”,\u00a0delivered by Assistant Lecturer Zahraa Salim Alwan, a faculty member at the Pharmaceutics Department.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to identify the applications of albumin-bound nanoparticle technology and its importance in delivering chemotherapy drugs.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop included several topics, including defining albumin-bound nanoparticle technology as a nanotechnology-based drug-delivery system that utilizes albumin’s intrinsic properties to achieve selective and effective delivery of poorly water-soluble drugs without using toxic solvents, since albumin can bind to drugs either through covalent or non-covalent binding. In addition, the workshop highlighted the most important applications of this technology, which are the use of nano-albumin (Nab) to deliver chemotherapy drugs, as well as to deliver drugs across the blood-brain barrier. Moreover, it was pointed out that albumin nanoparticles have shown great potential in delivering cell regenerative stimulants used in bone tissue regeneration, wound healing, and spinal cord injury repair.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop concluded that the ongoing development of the biomedical field and the increasing demand for nanoscale applications in drug delivery will contribute to expanding the use of albumin nanoparticles in therapeutic and precision diagnostic applications, given their high capacity for targeted drug delivery.<\/span><\/p>\n
