Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Dean of the University of Baghdad College of Pharmacy, and Professor Dr. Shehab Hattab Mutlag, the Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs, received Mr. Majid Salih Mahdi, Senior Director of the Media and Public Communication Department at the Independent High Electoral Commission, for organizing an awareness seminar in collaboration with the Media and Government Communication Department at the University of Baghdad and the Independent High Electoral Commission, held on Sunday, November 2, 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n

The seminar aimed to enhance electoral awareness among students and academic staff and to shed light on the mechanisms of cooperation between the Electoral Commission and Iraqi universities.<\/span><\/p>\n

The seminar covered several key topics, including an overview of the Commission\u2019s supervisory and organizational responsibilities in both regional and local elections. A detailed explanation of the electoral process steps, from the voter\u2019s entry into the polling station to the announcement of results. Clarification of the difference between public and special voting, and the importance of each. The use of modern technologies to ensure accuracy and transparency in the voting process. Mechanisms for handling field challenges by identifying potential issues and providing immediate solutions in coordination with specialized teams.<\/span><\/p>\n

In conclusion, the Commission reaffirmed its full commitment to ensuring a transparent and fair electoral process by providing a secure and organized voting environment, reinforcing public confidence in democratic practices, and guaranteeing the precise and timely announcement of results in line with voters\u2019 expectations and the principles of informed civic participation.<\/span><\/p>\n
