Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad\/College of Pharmacy held an in-person workshop entitled \u201cApplication of Western Blot and PCR Techniques in Postgraduate Projects”,\u00a0delivered by Lecturer Mahmood kahtan Ismail, a faculty member at the Pharmacology and Toxicology Department.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to explain the use of these technologies and highlight their importance in supporting advanced research.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop included several topics, including an explanation of the Western blot technique, which is a fundamental tool in postgraduate research that enables researchers to accurately measure protein levels under various experimental conditions by tracking cellular pathways, which makes this technique an important tool in cell signaling and disease research. Furthermore, the workshop included a description of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology, emphasizing its importance in the accurate measurement of gene expression levels, and pointing out that combining Western blot and PCR techniques provides the researcher with a comprehensive understanding of changes occurring in gene and protein levels, thereby enhancing the strength and interpretation of results in advanced biological research.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop concluded that it is important to use both Western blot and PCR techniques in order to obtain reliable results, which contributes to the production of rigorous research suitable for publication in high-impact journals indexed in international databases.<\/span><\/p>\n
