Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad\/College of Pharmacy held an in-person workshop entitled \u201cSmoking is a Silent Killer,\u201d delivered by assistant lecturer Huda Kareem Ahmed, a faculty member at the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department, and the Assistant Lecturer Dhuha Kazem Salman, a faculty member at the Pharmacognosy and Medical Plants Department.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to raise awareness about the health risks of smoking, explore its main causes and harmful effects, review effective methods for quitting, and highlight the role each individual can play in reducing the prevalence of this harmful habit.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop included several topics, including an overview of cigarette components and their harmful effects on individuals and society, an explanation of the main factors that drive smoking, and a review of effective strategies for reducing this habit and methods for quitting it.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop concluded by presenting a set of effective methods that help individuals quit smoking while highlighting its health and psychological harms and its long-term impact on both individuals and society. It also emphasized the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle and promoting awareness to reduce the prevalence of this harmful habit.<\/span><\/p>\n
