Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Scientific Affairs Unit at the University of Baghdad\/College of Pharmacy organized an awareness lecture titled \u201cAwareness Is Your Power Against Drug Abuse,\u201d delivered by Assistant Lecturer Zahraa Abdul-Ameer Ketan, a faculty member at the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department, and Assistant Lecturer Dhuha Kazem Salman, a faculty member at the Pharmacognosy and Medicinal Plants Department.<\/span><\/p>\n

The session aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse on physical, psychological, and mental health, as well as to encourage the target audience to seek help and guide them to the available treatment centers.<\/span><\/p>\n

The session included several topics, including the definition of drugs and addiction, types of drugs, factors leading to drug abuse, scientific methods and strategies to control drug abuse, and an overview of addiction treatment centers in Baghdad.<\/span><\/p>\n

The session concluded by emphasizing the importance of early detection of drug-use cases, the necessity of strengthening community awareness about the risks and consequences of drug abuse, encouraging individuals to seek help and treatment, and informing them about specialized centers that provide therapy and rehabilitative services.<\/span><\/p>\n
