Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Human Rights Unit at the University of Baghdad\/College of Pharmacy held an in-person workshop entitled \u201cEducation as a Fundamental Tool to Combat Poverty\u201d delivered by the legal advisor Murtadha Abdul-Hussein Hassan, Head of the Legal Affairs Division.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to raise awareness about the importance of education in reducing poverty and to encourage the academic community to promote a culture of learning and support initiatives that contribute to improving the quality of education and reducing social inequalities.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop included several topics, including the role of education as one of the most strategic tools in combating poverty by empowering individuals, expanding employment opportunities, and strengthening the skills necessary to support economic and social development. It also addressed the relationship between education and economic advancement, the role of educational institutions in supporting and empowering students, the impact of education on reducing social gaps and improving quality of life, and the importance of investing in education as an effective long-term approach to poverty reduction. The workshop was attended by 17 participants from the College of Pharmacy, who shared their views on the major challenges faced by low-income groups and discussed ways to improve access to education for all, emphasizing the role of academic institutions and families in promoting social justice and supporting learners.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop concluded by affirming that education represents the cornerstone of building a more just and stable society and that empowering individuals through knowledge is a fundamental step toward reducing poverty and supporting sustainable development.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0The workshop recommended the need to strengthen investment in education as a means to reduce poverty, support students from low-income families through grants and financial aid, enhance students\u2019 skills and prepare them for the labor market, encourage awareness initiatives and workshops on the importance of education, and reaffirm the role of educational institutions and families in supporting learning and reducing social inequality<\/span><\/p>\n
