Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the University Counseling Unit at the University of Baghdad\/College of Pharmacy, held an in-person workshop entitled \u201cEthical Values Between Principles and Interests: A Critical Insight into the Phenomenon of Moral Corruption”,\u00a0delivered by Lecturer Dr. Wurood Shihab Ahmed, a faculty member at the Pharmaceutical chemistry Department.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to clarify the concept of ethical values and their role in shaping individuals and society, distinguishing between ethical principles and personal interests, highlighting the manifestations of moral corruption in academic and social environments, promoting a culture of integrity and ethical responsibility within the university community and encourage conscious ethical behavior in daily and professional practices.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop included several topics including the concept of ethical values and their sources (religion, conscience, and society), ethical principles versus personal interests, moral corruption: definition, causes, and real-life examples, the impact of moral corruption on individuals, institutions, and society and the role of individuals and academic institutions in promoting ethical values and discussion of a practical case study.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop concluded that the ethical values constitute the true foundation of individual integrity and societal stability. The conflict between principles and interests represents a major gateway to moral corruption when personal interests override ethical values. The workshop emphasized that integrity is not merely a slogan, but a daily practice and a shared responsibility that contributes to building a fair and ethical academic environment.<\/span><\/p>\n
