Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad\/College of Pharmacy held an in-person workshop entitled \u201cFactors Affecting the Production of Medicinal Plants,”\u00a0delivered by\u00a0 Assistant\u00a0 Lecturer\u00a0 \u00a0Sarah Mohammed Sadiq, a faculty member at the Planning Unit in the Studies and Planning Division.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to highlight the impact of environmental and genetic factors, as well as agricultural practices, on the production of medicinal plants.\u00a0 Also, It presented modern techniques and smart agriculture to support sustainable agricultural development.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop included several topics including: the importance of medicinal plants, understanding biotic and abiotic stresses affecting plants, environmental and climatic factors such as temperature, humidity, and light intensity, as well as good soil and its nutrient content. Also, It addressed agricultural practices such as selecting suitable varieties and genetic traits, determining planting times, irrigation, fertilization, pest and disease management and the use of modern techniques.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop concluded \u00a0by emphasizing the importance of improving agricultural practices and utilizing modern techniques in the production of medicinal plants, while highlighting their role in supporting sustainable agricultural development.<\/span><\/p>\n
