Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kadhem AlKhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Pharmacy \/ University of Baghdad held an in-person workshop entitled \u201c<\/strong>Digital Biomarkers: Prospects and Applications in Healthcare\u201d<\/strong>, delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Samer Emad Mohammed, Head of the Clinical Pharmacy Department.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to introduce participants to modern concepts of digital biomarkers and to highlight their growing importance in supporting clinical decision-making, enhancing diagnostic accuracy, and improving continuous patient monitoring. It also sought to raise participants\u2019 awareness of the importance of integrating modern digital technologies into healthcare practices and to build their capacity to keep pace with digital transformation in the healthcare sector in line with the requirements of modern medicine.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop covered several key topics, including clarifying the pivotal role of digital biomarkers in the early detection of diseases, analyzing the fundamental differences between these biomarkers and traditional laboratory analysis methods in terms of mechanisms of action and data sources and reviewing their practical applications in remote monitoring and follow-up of patients, with particular emphasis on the role of the pharmacist in this context.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop concluded by exploring the future prospects of this technology in improving healthcare outcomes. The presentation approach relied on providing detailed practical examples, accompanied by a systematic explanation of how to effectively employ these technological tools in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of medical conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n
