Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad\/College of Pharmacy, held an in-person workshop entitled \u201cNature 4.0: Bridging Natural Products and Artificial Intelligence for Drug Discovery\u201d, delivered by Assistant Lecturer Zahraa Suhail Nassir, a faculty member at the Pharmacognosy and Medicinal Plants Department.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to define artificial intelligence used in drug discovery and highlight the most important nature-inspired systems used in this field.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop included several topics, including a presentation of prominent real-world applications and successful international experiences in this field. Also, it addressed the role of pharmaceutical companies in adopting artificial intelligence technologies across research, design, and production stages. Furthermore, specialized digital platforms that contribute to the design and generation of novel chemical compounds\u2014exceeding in number and diversity those found in nature\u2014were reviewed, emphasizing their ability to reduce both cost and development time.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop concluded that artificial intelligence systems and platforms should be incorporated into the design process for chemical compounds, especially for postgraduate students and according to their specializations, as they can drive a qualitative leap in pharmaceutical research and development and keep pace with global developments in this field.<\/span><\/p>\n
