Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the scientific affairs Division at the University of Baghdad\/College of Pharmacy, held an in-person scientific seminar entitled \u201cPharmacist-Led Patient Education for GLP-1 Agonists: Optimizing Obesity Management \u201cdelivered by Pharmacist Abdullah Saad Turki, the MSc student at the clinical pharmacy student.<\/span><\/p>\n

The seminar aimed to define the important role of pharmacists in educating patients about (GLP-1) receptor agonists, while highlighting the impact of this education on improving obesity management and ensuring patient safety.<\/span><\/p>\n

The seminar included several topics, including the clinical profile, proper injection protocols for medications such as \u201cLiraglutide,\u201d management of common gastrointestinal side effects, and safety warning indicators, in addition to assessing current practice and barriers to counseling among community pharmacists in Iraq. This approach helps prevent medication errors, reduce side effects, and improve the quality of patient care.<\/span><\/p>\n

The seminar concluded that the pharmacist is an essential safety net, emphasizing that overcoming current challenges is key to therapeutic success and ensuring that patients receive safe and effective medications.<\/span><\/p>\n
