Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, The Women’s Affairs Unit at the University of Baghdad\/College of Pharmacy, held an in-person workshop entitled \u201cThe Academic Pharmacist as a Model for Balancing Education, Research, and Community Service,”\u00a0delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Zainab Thabit Saleh and Lecturer Dr. Manar Adnan Tamer, both faculty members at the Pharmaceutics Department.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to highlight the role of academic pharmacy as a bridge connecting higher education and community service through the integration of educational programs with field practice.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop included several topics, including illustrating how pharmacy colleges can provide advisory and health awareness services to local communities, including disease prevention campaigns and drug education. \u00a0Also , it addressed the role of academic pharmacy as a model of balance through the development of curricula that combine theory and practical application, which enhances pharmacists\u2019 competencies as community leaders and their ability to face challenges such as resource limitations and the need for partnerships with the private sector, along with proposals to strengthen the academic role in public health.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop concluded by emphasizing that this model contributes to building healthier communities, more influential and effective pharmacists in community service, enhancing their role in raising health awareness, and improving the quality of pharmaceutical care.<\/span><\/p>\n
