Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad\/College of Pharmacy, held an in-person workshop entitled \u201cCheminformatics,\u201d delivered by Lecturer Dr. Sarah Sattar Jabbar, a faculty member at the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to highlight the crucial role of organic chemistry software in studying, analyzing, and predicting the properties of molecules, as well as aiding in the design of new compounds, the simulation of chemical reactions, and the analysis of spectroscopic data.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop included several topics including an overview of essential chemical databases (such as PubChem, ChemSpider, and CAS Registry), methods for defining chemical identity and structure (including CAS numbers and SMILES), applications of molecular modeling software (like PyMOL and Avogadro), and tools for data and spectroscopy analysis (such as NMR processing software).<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop concluded that the significant evolution of computational methods has transformed organic chemistry software from basic visualization tools into advanced platforms for complex simulations, making them indispensable resources for modern chemical data analysis and drug discovery.<\/span><\/p>\n
