Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit at the College of Pharmacy \/ University of Baghdad organized a scientific visit to ACAI Pharmaceutical Factory, which specializes in the production of antibiotics, on Sunday, April 26, 2026. The visit included fourth-year students as part of the practical requirements of the Industrial Pharmacy course, with the aim of enhancing students\u2019 applied knowledge and linking theoretical concepts with real-world practices in pharmaceutical manufacturing, particularly antibiotics.<\/span><\/p>\n

The visit began with a reception by the factory management, during which an introductory overview of the company and its antibiotic production lines was presented, with a focus on modern manufacturing technologies, quality control systems, and mechanisms for compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. The visit included a field tour of the various departments of the factory, covering sterile production lines, preparation and filling units, and quality control laboratories. Students were also introduced to strict sterilization procedures, requirements for entering clean areas, and contamination control mechanisms, which are fundamental aspects of antibiotic manufacturing.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the visit, scientific discussions took place between the students and the factory\u2019s technical staff, addressing the challenges facing antibiotic production and ways to develop it, as well as future training opportunities that could contribute to preparing qualified pharmaceutical professionals for the industrial sector.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the conclusion of the visit, the students expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the management of ACAI Pharmaceutical Factory for their warm reception and organization, emphasizing the importance of such visits in developing their practical skills and enhancing their understanding of the requirements of the pharmaceutical industry, thereby preparing them for the job market and supporting the development of the pharmaceutical sector in Iraq.<\/span><\/p>\n
