{"id":16057,"date":"2026-05-06T20:54:04","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T20:54:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.copharm.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=16057"},"modified":"2026-05-19T20:56:14","modified_gmt":"2026-05-19T20:56:14","slug":"possible-cardio-protective-effects-of-tnd1128-and-omega-3-fatty-acids-against-daunorubicin-induced-cardiotoxicity-in-male-wistar-rats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.copharm.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=16057","title":{"rendered":"Possible Cardio-protective Effects of TND1128 and Omega-3 Fatty Acids against Daunorubicin-Induced Cardiotoxicity in Male Wistar Rats"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">The College of Pharmacy discussed the MSc thesis entitled \u201cPossible Cardio-protective Effects of TND1128 and Omega-3 Fatty Acids against Daunorubicin-Induced Cardiotoxicity in Male Wistar Rats\u201d by the student Huda Hameed Rasheed and the supervisor, Assistant Professor Dr Alaa Radhi Khudhair, at the Pharmacology and Toxicology Department.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">The study aimed to evaluate the potential protective effect of both TND1128 and omega-3 against daunorubicin-mediated cardiotoxicity in rats.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">The study included 36 male rats, divided into six groups of six each, and treated as follows: Group I rats received 4 mL\/kg of corn oil orally for 14 consecutive days; Group II rats received 12 mg\/kg daunorubicin for the last 3 days by intraperitoneal injection; Group III rats received omega-3 fish oil at a dose of 600 mg\/kg\/day orally for 14 consecutive days and injected intraperitoneally with 4 mL\/kg normal saline for the last three days; Group IV rats received omega-3 fish oil at a dose of 600 mg\/kg\/day orally for 14 consecutive days and injected intraperitoneally with 12 mg\/kg daunorubicin for the last three days; Group V rats received TND1128 at a dose of 10 mg\/kg\/day orally for 14 consecutive days and injected intraperitoneally with 4 mL\/kg normal saline for the last three days; Group VI rats received TND1128 at a dose of 10 mg\/kg\/day orally for 14 consecutive days and injected intraperitoneally with 12 mg\/kg daunorubicin for the last three days. Subsequently, the rats were sacrificed, and blood and cardiac tissue samples were collected for biochemical, gene expression, and histological analysis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">The results showed improved cardiac tissue in rats pretreated with omega-3 or TND1128, along with a decrease in serum cardiac biomarkers, including troponin I and CK-MB, compared to group II. Also, pretreatment with omega-3 or TND1128 mitigated daunorubicin-induced oxidative stress by increasing GSH and decreasing MDA levels in cardiac tissue. Furthermore, pretreatment with omega-3 or TND1128 reduced daunorubicin-induced inflammation and apoptosis by lowering NF-\u03baB levels and the gene expression of both TNF-\u03b1 and IL-13, as well as reducing caspase-3 levels in cardiac tissue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">The study recommends further research using larger numbers of animals and longer durations to more comprehensively investigate the protective effects of both TND1128 and omega-3 fatty acids against daunorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity and their potential therapeutic
