Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Pharmacy \/ University of Baghdad organized an electronic training workshop entitled \u201cRecent Updates in Medication Safety, Drug Pricing, and the Pharmaceutical System (Gudea),\u201d delivered by Assistant Lecturer Dr. Ahmed Majid Hameed, a faculty member at the Department of Clinical Pharmacy with pharmacist Saba Jaber Hassoun and pharmacist Ola Mohammed Jallab from the Iraqi Ministry of Health \/ National Drug System Department \u2013 Drug Monitoring and Reporting Division.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to introduce the latest updates related to pharmaceutical safety and drug pricing mechanisms, as well as to highlight the role of the pharmaceutical system (CODIA) in strengthening pharmacovigilance and monitoring drug distribution, thereby improving the quality of healthcare services and ensuring the safe and rational use of medicines.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop included several topics, including the concept of pharmaceutical safety and pharmacovigilance, reporting mechanisms for adverse drug reactions and drug-related problems, updates on drug pricing, an explanation of the operational mechanism of the pharmaceutical system (CODIA) and its role in organizing and managing drug data and electronic pharmacovigilance, as well as discussing the importance of enhancing integration between healthcare institutions to ensure the efficiency of the pharmaceutical system and improve the quality of services provided. Also , it reviewed the challenges facing the implementation of modern pharmaceutical systems and ways to address them.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop concluded by emphasizing the importance of strengthening cooperation between academic institutions and relevant health authorities to develop pharmacovigilance systems, and the necessity of adhering to approved safety and pricing regulations, due to their impact on improving the quality of healthcare and protecting patients, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 related to good health and well-being.<\/span><\/p>\n
