Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad\/College of Pharmacy held an in-person workshop entitled \u201cRational Use of Biologics and Biosimilars in Clinical Pharmacy Practice\u201d,\u00a0delivered by Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Hussein Saihood, a faculty member at the Clinical Pharmacy Department.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to provide participants with essential knowledge about the optimal use of biologics and biosimilars in clinical pharmacy to ensure treatment effectiveness and patient safety, while taking into account the cost of these therapies.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop included an overview of biologic therapies and their importance in clinical practice, with clarification of the differences between biologics and biosimilars and the mechanisms of their approval. It also addressed issues related to the safety and therapeutic efficacy of these treatments, in addition to the economic challenges associated with their use. Furthermore, the workshop discussed the principles of the rational use of biologics and biosimilars to achieve the best therapeutic outcomes for patients, while highlighting the pivotal role of the clinical pharmacist in monitoring therapy and promoting the safe and effective use of these treatments.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop concluded by emphasizing the importance of the rational use of biologics and biosimilars in improving healthcare and reducing treatment costs, while stressing the role of the clinical pharmacist in ensuring patient safety and treatment efficacy.<\/span><\/p>\n
