Kathem Al-Khateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Pharmacy, University of Baghdad, held an in-person workshop entitled \u201cInfrared Spectroscopy,\u201d delivered by Assistant Lecturer Maha Adel Jabbar, a faculty member at the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">The workshop aimed to introduce the technique of infrared spectroscopy, explain its working principles, and highlight its applications in identifying functional groups and characterizing chemical compounds. Also, it focused on the interpretation and analysis of infrared spectra and emphasized the importance of this analytical technique in pharmaceutical, chemical, and scientific research fields.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">The workshop included several topics, including an introduction to infrared radiation and its applications, the principles of molecular absorption of infrared radiation and chemical bond vibrations, the interpretation of infrared spectra, the identification of functional groups through characteristic absorption peaks, the components and operating principles of infrared spectrometers, and practical applications with examples of analyzing various chemical compounds in pharmaceutical, chemical, and research fields.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">The workshop concluded that infrared spectroscopy is an effective and reliable analytical technique for identifying functional groups and characterizing chemical compounds.
