\u00a0<\/strong>Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Assistant Professor Dr. Sarmad Hashim Al-Khatib, the Scientific Affairs Unit at the College of Pharmacy \/ University of Baghdad held a scientific seminar delivered by Assistant Professor Fadia Thamer Ahmed – PhD student in the Clinical Pharmacy department on the study of the link between genetic polymorphisms of the adhesion molecule in Integrin alpha-4 gene and Response to natalizumab in a sample of Iraqi patients with multiple sclerosis.\u00a0<\/span>The aim of the workshop is to study the genetic mutations that lead to different genetic forms of the adhesion molecule integrin alpha-4 and to find their effect on increasing the likelihood of non-response to natalizumab in a sample of Iraqi patients with multiple sclerosis.\u00a0<\/span>The lecture included various topics such as an introduction to multiple sclerosis, the available treatments, an overview of natalizumab, an explanation of the importance and results of genetic examination, and finding the relationship of genetic mutations of the adhesion molecule alpha-4 integrin and the response to the drug.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
