Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Assistant Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem AlKhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the department of pharmaceutics, organized a training course entitled (Zetasizer: particle size and zetapotential measurements<\/strong>) presented by a group of faculty members in the department of pharmaceutics\u00a0The training course aims to introduce graduate students and researchers to the instrument and its importance, and to provide required training for sample measurements and results interpretations.\u00a0The course, which lasted for three days (20-22-23 March, 2023), covered four main aspects. The first was an introduction to the instrument and its importance in pharmaceutical research involving nanoparticles presented by Assistant Prof Dr. Khaled Kazem Al-Kinani, Head of the Pharmaceutics department. The second aspect covered the theory of dynamic light scattering, which represents the basis for measuring the size of nanoparticles in the instrument and was presented byDr. Kawther Khalid Ahmed, where the lecture shed light on the concept of the theory, its application, its determinants, and how to evaluate the resulting reports. The third aspect dealt with the zeta potential of nanoparticles, which was delivered by the lecturer Salam Taher Shanta. The lecture included its importance and its measurement using the instrument and factors implicating zetapotential measurement. The fourth aspect included a hands on experience for size and zetapotential measurement presented by Dr. Nawar Mikhael, who is responsible for zetasizer operation where he shared his experience in preparing and measuring samples with the participants in the course. The practical side dealt with how to deal with different samples to reach accurate scientific readings and how to interpret them.<\/span><\/p>\n
