Prof.<\/strong><strong> Eman B.H. Al-khedairy<\/strong> <strong>\u00a0<\/strong>in the Pharmaceutics \u00a0Department. Prednisolone\u00a0 is a corticosteroid (synthetic glucocorticoid) act as immune- suppressant and anti- inflammatory drug for different age groups; it has very bitter taste which affects patient compliance especially for children.\u00a0The present study aimed to mask the bitter taste of the Prednisolone to be formulated as pediatric orodispersible tablets\u00a0Two different methods were used in this study; adsorption method using\u00a0Veegum\u00ae and Bentonite as adsorbents at different concentration and external ionic\u00a0gelation methods using sodium alginate\u00a0 as primary polymer alone or in presence of hydrophilic polymers .The product with best taste masking was formulated as orodispersible tablets using suitable additives.\u00a0 The results showed the superiority of external ionic gelation method as taste masking method using Sodium Alginate (0.5% w\/v) in combination with carbopol in a ratio of 1:1:1 ratio (Prednisolone: Sodium Alginate: Carbopol 940) since only 0.77 % of the dose was released in simulated media of the oral cavity within one minute. The orodispersible tablets prepared by direct compression method showed acceptable physical properties with disintegration time of 15.3 seconds with good taste masking as only 75% of Prednisolone was released in simulated media of the oral cavity within one minute, while its release in stomach (0.1N HCl) and intestine (pH 6.8) was continued up to two hours.\u00a0The tablets were stable at storage temperatures (room temperature and 50<sup>o<\/sup>C) for two months.It can be concluded that oral preparation of Prednisolone with an acceptable taste is possible by using external ionic gelation technique<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]<div id=\"cz_33308\" data-position=\"top-right\" class=\"cz_33308 cz_image clr cz_image_no_fx center_on_mobile\"><div class=\"\" ><div class=\"cz_image_in\"><div class=\"cz_main_image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"760\" height=\"323\" src=\"https:\/\/en.copharm.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/80\/2023\/04\/11.jpg\" class=\"attachment-full\" alt=\"\" title=\"11\" srcset=\"https:\/\/en.copharm.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/80\/2023\/04\/11.jpg 760w, https:\/\/en.copharm.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/80\/2023\/04\/11-300x128.jpg 300w, https:\/\/en.copharm.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/80\/2023\/04\/11-600x255.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] The Faculty of Pharmacy discussed the Master\u2019s Degree thesis, Formulation and in-vitro evaluation of taste masked prednisolone as pediatric &#8230;
