Under the supervision of Assist. Prof. Dr. Sarmed H. Kathum AlKhateeb, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy-University of Baghdad\u2026.The continuing education unit established a workshop under the title (Points to be Considered in Pediatric Medicines Formulation and Evaluation) that was given by Assist. Prof. Dr. Khalid Kadhem Al-Kinani, Chair of the department of Pharmaceutics. The presentation aimed to highlight the unique challenges involved in developing and regulating pediatric medicines, with a particular focus on the formulation aspects.\u00a0Dr. Al-Kinani began by discussing the importance of tailored dosing, formulations, and administration methods for children of different ages and developmental stages. He emphasized that the formulation of pediatric medicines requires a thorough understanding of the physiological and pharmacokinetic differences between children and adults. Additionally, he pointed out that children often have unique dosage forms and administration methods, such as oral liquids, chewable tablets, and suppositories.\u00a0To address these challenges, Dr. Al-Kinani suggested several approaches, including the use of innovative formulations and devices, the development of pediatric-friendly dosage forms, and the optimization of pediatric drug delivery systems. Attendees praised Dr. Al-Kinani’s presentation for its practical relevance to their daily work and for providing a comprehensive overview of the formulation challenges involved in the development of pediatric medicines. The presentation was based on the most recent WHO, EMA, and US FDA guidelines in this perspective.<\/span><\/p>\n
