{"id":3281,"date":"2023-05-29T04:37:29","date_gmt":"2023-05-29T04:37:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.copharm.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=3281"},"modified":"2023-05-29T04:37:29","modified_gmt":"2023-05-29T04:37:29","slug":"discussion-association-of-deiodinase-type-2-polymorphism-with-the-response-to-levothyroxine-therapy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.copharm.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=3281","title":{"rendered":"Discussion Association of deiodinase type 2 polymorphism with the response to levothyroxine therapy"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">The Faculty of Pharmacy discussed the master\u2019s degree thesis, entitled &#8221; Association of deiodinase type 2 polymorphism with the response to levothyroxine therapy &#8221; by <strong>Nada Hamid Rasheed <\/strong>and the supervisor, <strong>Lecturer Dr. Basma Zuheir Muhammed Naji <\/strong>in the Clinical Pharmacy Department. \u00a0The thesis <strong>aimed<\/strong> to examine the influence of two single nucleotide polymorphisms of deiodinase type 2 (rs 225013) and (rs 225014) on levothyroxine dose requirements in patients with hypothyroidism and also to investigate the anxiety and depression levels in these patients. This was a cross-sectional study conducted at Baghdad Center for Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Therapy. A total of 60 hypothyroid patients receiving levothyroxine treatment participated in the study. The mean age of the participants was 40.35 \u00b1 9.5 years with the highest percentage being females (85%).Patients who have had the wild type (TT) of the SNP (rs225014) required significantly higher levothyroxine doses with a mean of 151.47\u00b1 45.47 \u00b5g\/day. The mean scores of anxiety and depression for the total sample were 8.72\u00b13.46 and 7.8\u00b12.83; respectively. The study has shown that genetic polymorphism of deiodinase type 2 enzyme can be associated with increased levothyroxine dose requirement.
