{"id":3511,"date":"2023-06-11T07:56:58","date_gmt":"2023-06-11T07:56:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.copharm.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=3511"},"modified":"2023-06-11T07:56:58","modified_gmt":"2023-06-11T07:56:58","slug":"discussion-formulation-and-characterization-and-in-vivo-study-of-diazepam-as-intranasal-nano-emulgel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.copharm.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=3511","title":{"rendered":"Discussion Formulation and Characterization and In-Vivo Study of Diazepam as Intranasal Nano Emulgel"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 19px;\">The Faculty of Pharmacy discussed the Ph.D. Degree thesis, tagged&#8221; Formulation and Characterization and In-Vivo Study of Diazepam as Intranasal Nano Emulgel&#8221; by <strong>Yousif Kamal Younis <\/strong>and the supervisor, <strong>Prof Dr. <\/strong><strong>Shaimaa Nazar Abd Alhammid<\/strong> in the Department of Pharmaceutics. The thesis aimed to formulate Diazepam as a nano emulgel for intranasal administration to provide an alternative route for Diazepam administration to a patient suffering from convulsions.In the light of the results obtained, the study concluded the possibility of formulating a stable nano carrier system for Diazepam for intranasal administration that targets a rapid absorption and direct permeation into the CSF that can be harnessed in acute management of epileptic emergencies where other routes are harder to access.\u00a0The thesis recommended for accurate determination of the right dose to be given from the nasal cavity that achieve same or similar concentration in the CSF, parallel studies comparing the plasma &amp; CSF concentration of Diazepam when administered from the nasal and IV route should be done. These studies will enable also the measurement of drug targeting efficiency (DTE). Bio safety study for determining the extent of damage, if any, to the mucocilliary clearance and integrity of the nasal epithelium should be done. Looking for better methods for CSF aspiration than penetration from the cisterna magna is advised.
