Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathum Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit in the University of Baghdad\/College of Pharmacy, held an in-person scientific workshop about the Experimental Design of Antimicrobial Activity, delivered by Professor Dr. Maysoon Abdul-Zahra, a faculty member at the Clinical Laboratory Sciences Department. The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of measuring the effectiveness of various research materials, such as plants, chemical compounds, etc., in the antimicrobial field to identify microbial isolates (different from bacteria and fungi in particular) that are resistant and sensitive to the studied materials, which helps in developing therapeutic products in the future.\u00a0The workshop addressed three important topics: methods for in vitro evaluating antimicrobial activity, the requirements necessary for this evaluation, and the mechanism for measuring the aforementioned effectiveness using globally proven methods. Possible solutions were also explained to facilitate the design of antimicrobial activity experiments in the event that standard requirements, such as standard microbial isolates used for the purpose of comparison with local isolates, are not available.<\/span><\/p>\n
