Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathum Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad\/College of Pharmacy, held a scientific course on the Zetasizer conducted by Assistant Professor Dr. Khalid Kadhem Al-Kinani, the Head of the Pharmaceutics Department, \u00a0Lecturer Dr. Kawther Khalid Ahmad, Lecturer Dr. Nawar Mikhael Toma, and Lecturer Salam Shanta Taher, faculty members at the Pharmaceutics Department. \u00a0The course was specifically designed for postgraduate students (MSc and PhD), especially those whose research involved nanoscale drug delivery systems. The three-day course included lectures on the role of nanotechnology and nanoscale drug delivery systems in designing advanced treatments with high efficiency and minimal side effects. Lectures also covered the principles of the Zetasizer device, how it measures nanoparticles, and precise and clear result analysis. Furthermore, it included lectures on the principle of Zeta potential and its importance in the stability of such delivery systems. And finally, practical training (hands-on experience) on the device. The course concluded with an evaluative exam for the participants. This important course is part of the annual activities conducted by the Pharmaceutics Department at the College for the third consecutive year. It aims to prepare competent researchers in pharmaceutical sciences and enhance the quality of research published by the university’s researchers. The Pharmaceutics Department was equipped with the latest Zetasizer device about three years ago, a significant effort by the College, as previously, students and researchers had to perform tests using this device outside the college and university due to its unavailability. The College and the Pharmaceutics Department look forward to repeating this course annually to train new students and researchers and improve the research and academic level of the college and our beloved university.<\/span><\/p>\n
