Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathum Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad\/College of Pharmacy, held an in-person scientific workshop about the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique, delivered by Dr. Mohammed Yawuz Jamal, a faculty member at the Clinical Pharmacy Department. The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of using the ELISA in detecting and estimating hormone levels, tracking disease outbreaks as it helps in tracking the spread of diseases like chlamydia or influenza by detecting the presence of specific antibodies in a population, detecting nonmedical drug use, etc. It is a highly sensitive and specific method used for the detection of antibodies or antigens in biological samples. Its importance in medical diagnostics. The workshop addressed several important topics, such as the applications of ELISA in different medical fields, the types of ELISA, as it consists of four major types, and the mechanism for measuring the antigen or antibody. ELISA plays a crucial role in various diagnostic applications, from monitoring hormone levels to ensuring the safety of blood donations and detecting drug use and cancer markers. This makes it an essential tool in modern medical diagnostics.<\/span><\/p>\n
