Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathum Alkhateeb, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, in cooperation with the Volunteer Work Support Committee at the University of Baghdad\/College of Pharmacy, organized a field visit for Pharm-D students along with a group of faculty members to the Iraqi National Museum on Thursday, February 8th, 2024.The visit aimed to observe the great cultural heritage of our dear country, increase awareness about the first civilizations in the world, and inspire pride in the legacy of our ancestors who inhabited Mesopotamia.The visit included a tour of the museum’s halls, which simulate the sequential time periods of civilizations, starting with the Stone Age, represented by antiquities and hunting tools from the eras of ancient man (Neanderthals), then the halls of the Sumerian, Assyrian, and Babylonian civilizations, all the way to the halls that include relics of Islamic civilization in its various stages and artifacts from the Dark Ages. A tour guide from the Iraqi National Museum, who explained the story of each piece in the museum and its historical importance, accompanied the students. The visit gave the students an opportunity to learn about what life was like in each era of history.At the end of the visit, the students expressed their astonishment at the depth and greatness of our cultural heritage, enjoyed wandering through history, and showed their desire to repeat the visit.<\/span><\/p>\n
