Kathum Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad\/College of Pharmacy, held a workshop entitled \u201cRecent Advance in Lipid-Based Nanovesicles Carriers for Brain Targeting,&#8221;\u00a0delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Lubna Abdalkarim Sabri, a faculty member at the Pharmaceutics Department. The workshop aimed to introduce the most important updates in the pharmaceutical field (strategies and nanomaterials) for the development of brain-targeted drug delivery systems.The workshop focused on liposome-derivative nanovesicles as an alternative transport system to conventional formulations for the treatment of several highly prevalent psychiatric, tumor, and neurodegenerative disorders. They contribute to solving formulation issues related to the drug molecule itself and drug targeting to the intended site of therapeutic action, the brain, which leads to enhanced brain bioavailability and decreased systemic distribution, with these formulations successfully achieving higher therapeutic efficacy and safety.
