The Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, and the Head of the Pharmaceutics Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Khalid Kadhum Al-Kinani, attended the 27th Pharmaceutical Industries Conference held by the Arab Union of Pharmaceutical Industries and Medical Supplies in Amman, Jordan, from 2-3 July 2024. The event was held under the slogan “Perspectives and Future of Value-Added Pharmaceutical Industry in Arab Countries.” <\/span>The Iraqi delegation also included the honorable advisor to the Prime Minister for pharmaceutical industry affairs, pharmacists representing the Ministry of Health, the Pharmacists Syndicate, faculty members, and pharmacists working in Iraqi pharmaceutical factories. The event was sponsored by the Iraqi pharmaceutical company, Adwaa Al-Safaa. The conference included a forum with several scientific lectures focusing on the development of value-added medicines and available methods for their approval and registration by pharmaceutical authorities in Arab countries. The conference also featured a large exhibition of Arab pharmaceutical companies and supporting companies from around the world. Iraq’s participation was notable as Dr. Khalid Kadhum Al-Kinani delivered a lecture on employing artificial intelligence in the process of developing value-added medicines to meet the healthcare needs, underscoring the conference’s recommendations:<\/span>
\n1. The necessity of initiating legislation related to the registration of value-added medicines in all pharmaceutical forms by Arab legislative bodies.<\/span>
\n2. Activating and developing communication channels between Arab legislative and pharmaceutical regulatory bodies to ensure smooth registration, exchange of opinions, and perspectives on pricing systems and intellectual property rights.<\/span>
\n3. Encouraging university research centers and guiding postgraduate students to focus their research on this aspect in their theses to increase the number of pharmaceutical preparations and forms of value-added medicines, thereby reducing the time required for the development and marketing of these preparations.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]
