\u00a0Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Psychological Guidance and Educational Orientation Unit, led under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Abdul Hussein, organized the first discussion session titled “The Increase and Decrease of Vitamin D3 and Its Role in Immunity and Public Health,” presented by the students of the Pharmacine Search Club. This club was established by students to seek out modern information in the fields of medicine and treatment and present it to their peers as a contemporary method of learning and gaining knowledge by encouraging students to search and read by themselves.The session aimed to educate students about Vitamin D3 in all its aspects, starting from its discovery and its relationship to rickets to new studies on its impact on immune diseases. Students discussed the relationship between vitamin D3 and insulin resistance and women’s health, specifically its relation to polycystic ovary syndrome. The discussion also covered symptoms of vitamin D3 deficiency, reasons behind its deficiency despite continuous sun exposure, and the equation to calculate the correct dosage. Common mistakes in dispensing it at pharmacies and the effects of high doses of the vitamin were also addressed. At the end of the session, the dean presented certificates of appreciation to the students who contributed to preparing and presenting the discussion session, who, in turn, thanked the dean for his continuous support and encouragement to hold more beneficial scientific discussion sessions.<\/span><\/p>\n
