Under the supervision of the esteemed Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, a health awareness campaign for the prevention of chronic diseases such as obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes was held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, in collaboration with the Supporting Committee for Volunteer Work.The campaign included measuring weight, height, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels, as well as distributing awareness brochures to students, professors, and employees of the University of Baghdad campus in Bab Al-Muadham. This was carried out by a group of fourth-year students and third-year Pharm D students under the supervision of several faculty members: Associate Professor Dr. Ali Azeez Ali, Associate Professor Dr. Samer Imad Muhammad, Associate Professor Dr. Fadia Thamer Ahmed, Lecturer Dr. Muhammad Yawuz Jamal, Lecturer Dr. \u00a0Shaima Abdul Zahra Abbas, Lecturer Dr. Kawthar Khaled Ahmed, and Mrs. Ansam Fouad Shaker.The students expressed their happiness to participate in such extracurricular activities, which enhance their skills in communicating with clients and how to educate and convince them to do healthy activities to avoid chronic diseases like obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes. In the end, the students requested that this activity be held quarterly so they could step out of the academic atmosphere and engage practically with the outside world, thereby honing their professional skills.<\/span><\/p>\n
