Kathem Alkhateeb, the Scientific Affairs Unit at the University of Baghdad\/College of Pharmacy, held an in-person scientific seminar entitled \u201cAlbumin nanoparticles (ANP) for anticancer targeting&#8221;, delivered by Pharmacist Areej Wahhab Abduljaleel, a PhD student at the Pharmaceutics Department. The seminar aimed to introduce albumin nanoparticles (ANPs) for anticancer targeting and the techniques involved in formulating anticancer drugs into ANPs. The seminar included several topics, including the different methods used to prepare ANPs, with the desolvation method being the most common. It also discussed the factors affecting the formulation, such as the concentration of albumin, the concentration of the drug, the volume of antisolvent, pH, temperature, and other factors. Additionally, the seminar reviewed the findings of previous studies, which showed that ANPs have the potential to deliver anticancer drugs more effectively and safely. This is due to their small size, biocompatibility, and ability to target cancer tissues more specifically than healthy tissues, which helps to reduce the common side effects associated with these drugs. Previous studies have also indicated that these nanoparticles can enhance drug permeation and retention in tumor tissues due to albumin\u2019s ability to bind to specific receptors on cancer cells.
