Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department at the University of Baghdad\/College of Pharmacy held an in-person workshop entitled \u201cMolecular Modeling: Concept, Demonstration, Hands-on Training, and Interpretation of Results,\u201d presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Ayad AL-Hamashi, Assistant Lecturer Rusul Mohammed Hassan Ali, and Assistant Lecturer Mazen Mohammed Jwaid, faculty members in the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department.Molecular modelling is a vital tool in the field of pharmaceutical sciences and pharmaceutical chemistry, as it helps researchers understand molecular interactions and predict the behaviour of compounds. Through molecular modelling, researchers can design new compounds, evaluate the physical and chemical properties of molecules, and estimate the efficacy of drugs before clinical trials. This contributes to accelerating the drug discovery process and reducing costs. Additionally, molecular modelling allows for the study of molecular dynamics, where the movement and interaction of molecules in different environments can be examined, and providing deep insights into complex biological processes. The use of the “Schr\u00f6dinger” software package also helps participants enhance their skills in data interpretation and result analysis in a professional manner. The workshop concluded with introducing participants to the concepts of molecular modelling and its importance in drug development, teaching participants how to effectively use “Schr\u00f6dinger” software, guiding participants on how to interpret and analyse results obtained from “Schr\u00f6dinger” software, and educating participants on how to use the results for scientific research purposes and the development of research projects.<\/span><\/p>\n
