Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Pharmacy, University of Baghdad, organized an in-person workshop titled “The Effect of Narcotics on the Society” The workshop was presented by Assistant Lecturer Yasser Faleh Mohsen, a faculty member in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. The aim of the workshop was to raise awareness that the harms of narcotics are not limited to their negative effects on an individual\u2019s health and their immediate surroundings, such as family and friends, but extend to society as a whole, affecting various aspects of the economy and social structure. The workshop covered several topics, including the psychological effects of Narcotics, their impact on the nervous system and body, as well as their effects on pregnant women, families, and society. The workshop concluded that drug use can lead to accidents, injuries, and even death due to driving under the influence of drugs, theft, and assault on others’ property, violence, and violations of others’ rights. In extreme cases, it may even lead to murder, along with increased unemployment and homelessness, which place additional burdens on society and the state. The spread of corruption is also linked to the drug trade in society.<\/span><\/p>\n
