Kathum AlKhateeb, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy-University of Baghdad\u2026.The continuing education unit at the college, established a workshop under the title (Nanotechnology for Alzheimer<sup>,<\/sup>s Disease Management) that was given by lecturer Dr. Lubna Abdalkarim Sabri, a faculty member in the Department of Pharmaceutics .\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">It is known that Alzheimer&#8217;s disease constitutes a great burden on both the family and the health system. According to the World Health Organization 2020 report, \u00a0deaths from Alzheimer\u2019s disease and dementia occupy the sixth place in Iraq. Therefore, it has become necessary to find innovative and more effective treatment methods by targeting the drug to specific sites in the brain and overcoming the blood-brain barrier, thus reducing the potential side effects.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The workshop aimed to introduce the most important recent developments in nanoparticle technology (those based on polymers, lipids, inorganic materials, and metals) to increase the selectivity toward the target cells, as well as control the rate of drug release and traceability in-vivo to be clinically available for therapeutic interventions. Today, the nanotechnologies in medicine have helped in the diagnosis of the disease in its early stages.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The workshop also included the Alzheimer\u2019s disease pathogenesis and the risk factors and how can prevent it.
