Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Ibn Sina Unit at the College of Pharmacy\/University of Baghdad, held an in-person and electronic workshop entitled \u201cEco-Immunology: Integrating Ecology and Immunology,\u201d delivered by the lecturer, Dr. Shaymaa Abdul Zahra Abbas, a faculty member in the Clinical Laboratory Sciences Department. The workshop aimed to introduce eco-immunology, a rapidly evolving field that explores how the environment influences immune function, which in turn affects host-parasite relationships and disease outcomes. The immune system is shaped throughout life by many variables, such as diet and infection history, yet most of our immunological knowledge comes from controlled laboratory experiments that seek to eliminate the variation that would have an impact in natural environments. The workshop explores the fascinating emerging field of eco-immunology, which draws from both ecology and immunology to explore how the immune system works in the real world.<\/span><\/p>\n
