Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Scientific Affairs Unit at the University of Baghdad\/College of Pharmacy, held an in-person workshop entitled \u201cPolymeric Micelles: An Insight of Techniques for Their Preparation and Applications,”\u00a0delivered by Lecturer Zainab Eassa Jassim, a faculty member at the Pharmaceutics Department. The workshop aimed to highlight the significance of polymeric micelles and demonstrate techniques for their preparation and applications. The workshop included several topics, including an introduction to polymeric micelles, which are nano-sized structures formed from amphiphilic block copolymers. These copolymers consist of hydrophilic and hydrophobic blocks that self-assemble into micelles in aqueous media. The hydrophobic core can encapsulate hydrophobic drugs, while the hydrophilic shell provides stability and biocompatibility. The workshop also provided an overview of the types of polymers used in the preparation of polymeric micelles, the different methods used for preparing polymeric micelles, which include direct dissolution, dialysis, and ultrasound techniques, and the applications of polymeric micelles in drug delivery and other biomedical fields. The workshop concluded by emphasizing that polymeric micelles represent a promising platform for drug delivery and other biomedical applications. Continued research and development in this area are expected to yield even more effective and versatile micellar systems.<\/span><\/p>\n
