The Faculty of Pharmacy discussed the doctoral dissertation “Preparation, in vitro, and pre-clinical study of Ticagrelor as a solid self-nanoemulsefying drug delivery system” by Ph.D. student Khalid Waleed Khalid and his supervisor, Prof. Dr Shaimaa Nazar Abd Alhammid.\u00a0The aim of that study was to enhance the water solubility and tissue permeability of ticagrelor, and to study the drug’s release in vitro, <\/em>and study the pharmacological effect of the drug on rats.\u00a0After the preparation of the liquid dosage form, the best formula, according to the results of tests, was chosen to solidify and prepare a solid form that was then filled into hard gelatin capsules.\u00a0The results showed that there was a great improvement in the dissolution of drug in vitro<\/em> between the prepared formula and the pure powder of ticagrelor.\u00a0The pharmacological effect of the drug showed a great elongation in blood clotting time in samples taken from two rat groups: the first group received Ticagrelor as a suspension administered orally, and the second group recieved the self-nano emulsion formula.\u00a0The results showed that the solidification of the liquid formula produced a powder with excellent micromeritic properties that could be easily filled in to a hard gelatin capsule. The results showed an enhancement in the solubility of the drug in water, which may improve the bioavailability, and showed a good pharmacological response in the pre-clinical study.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
