Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Pharmacy, University of Baghdad, organized an in-person workshop titled “The Importance of Research for Pharmacy Students” presented by Lecturer Dr. Mohammad Yawaz Jamal, a faculty member in the Clinical Pharmacy Department. The workshop aimed to raise awareness among students about the importance of research. It covered the role of research in the field of pharmacy and how it can impact the improvement of the community’s health. Additionally, the workshop aimed to develop students’ research skills and teach them how to conduct research, while also encouraging creativity and providing an environment that stimulates students to think creatively and explore new ideas. The workshop included several key topics, including: basics of scientific research: The definition of scientific research, its stages, how to formulate a research question, and how to create hypotheses. Study design: Types of studies (e.g., experimental, descriptive, etc.). Writing the research: How to write a research report (introduction, methodology, results, and discussion), including references and sources. The workshop concluded by emphasizing the necessity of continuous learning and research in the field of pharmacy to keep up with scientific and technological advancements. Students were also encouraged to seek opportunities to deepen their involvement in research. Participants were motivated to apply the skills they learned in their future projects and research endeavors.
