Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the College of the Pharmacy / University of Baghdad held an in-person workshop entitled “RNA Isolation, Purification, Quantification and cDNA Preparation”, delivered by the lecturer Dr. Aminah Ali Abid, a lecturer in the Clinical Laboratory Sciences Department.  The workshop aimed to clarify the factors that must be taken into account in the selection of the optimal methods for extracting RNA according to its applications in RT-qPCR or cDNA library construction as well as the type of extracted samples, in addition to clarifying the methods used in determining the purity and quantity of RNA with high accuracy.  The workshop also included several aspects, including a brief introduction to RNA, techniques used in RNA extraction, quantification and qualification RNA, as well as strategies used in RNA storage. The workshop concluded the clinical significance of extracting pure RNA for gene expression analysis and RNA sequencing for predicting the protein products.
