Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy, organized scientific training course held from April 8 to 10, 2025 entitled “Pharmaceutical Liquid and Semisolid for Topical Veterinary Application: Formulation and Evaluation”, delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Hanan Jalal Kassab a Head of the Pharmaceutics Department, in collaboration With Assistant Professor Dr. Lubna AbdalKarim Sabri, and Assistant Professor Dr. Halah Talal Suleiman, faculty members at the Pharmaceutics Department. The scientific training course aimed to enhance the participants’ expertise in formulating and evaluating various pharmaceutical dosage forms used in veterinary topical applications, including emulsions, ointments, creams, and gels. This specialized course targeted researchers from the Center for the Production and Development of Veterinary Medicines / Industrial Research and Development Authority, Ministry of Industry and Minerals. The scientific training course included several topics, including the types and preparation methods of emulsions, selection of appropriate excipients and optimal concentrations in formulation development of ointments, creams, and gels, and strategies to ensure formulation stability. It also covered the scientific principles behind evaluating topical pharmaceutical products. In addition, the course included an interactive practical training component, during which participants prepared various pharmaceutical formulations (ointments, creams, and emulgels) and conducted relevant tests to assess their physical and chemical properties. The scientific training course concluded with an assessment exam to evaluate participants’ understanding and participation. In addition to emphasized the importance of academic-industry collaboration in advancing the veterinary pharmaceutical sector in Iraq.
