Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy held an in-person workshop entitled “Preparative High-Pressure Liquid Chromatography (PHPLC)”, delivered by Assistant Professor Dhuha Abdul-Saheb Al-Shammaa, a faculty member at the Pharmacognosy and Medicinal Plants Department. The workshop aimed to introduce the PHPLC instrument and its fundamental role in the separation and purification of bioactive compounds. The workshop included several topics including the operational principles of the instrument, its applications in phytochemical analysis, and its value in optimizing the isolation of active constituents from medicinal plants. The workshop concluded the necessity of utilizing the PHPLC system effectively in pharmacognostic research, particularly for the separation and purification of plant-derived bioactive substances.
