Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy held an in-person workshop entitled “Applications of Phytochemical Nanotechnology in Pharmacognosy and Medicinal Plants’’, delivered by Assistant Lecturer Zahraa Suhail Nassir, a faculty member at the Pharmacognosy and Medicinal Plants Department.

The workshop aimed to elucidate the broad outlines of nanotechnology concepts and to explore its potential benefits and applications in the field of scientific research and postgraduate studies, particularly in the field of pharmacognosy and medicinal plants.

The workshop included several topics, including an overview and definition of nanotechnology, classifications of nanotechnological approaches, methods for preparing nanopharmaceuticals for active chemicals extracted from plants (phytochemicals) and the most critical techniques employed for characterization and identifying nanopharmaceuticals from plant extracts.

The workshop concluded that the integration of nanotechnology into postgraduate research is essential, as it holds substantial potential to advance both the scientific and practical fields of pharmacognosy and other related branches.
